This altar rug is woven with hand spun wool + plant dyed, cotton and silk. This rug is woven with the spirit of golden dawns in mind, when we sense being on the cusp of something significant emerging or transforming. The golden spark of creativity landing on our shoulders. The shimmering of the bright earth reminding us that beauty, death and birth are all a part of normal cycles.
The red threads may represent the ancient mother line or the protective fires that keep our love and care for the world alight.
All of our handwoven works are made at home, and contain the spirit of human-craft which has quirks and irregularities, adding to the integrity of each piece.
